Download E-books Polymerphysik: Eine physikalische Beschreibung von Elastomeren und ihren anwendungsrelevanten Eigenschaften (German Edition) PDF

By Claus Wrana

Autorenbeschreibung:

Claus Wrana, geb.

Download E-books Vortices in Bose-Einstein Condensates: 67 (Progress in Nonlinear Differential Equations and Their Applications) PDF

By Amandine Aftalion

One of many key concerns relating to superfluidity is the life of vortices. In very fresh experiments on Bose–Einstein condensates, vortices were saw by means of rotating the catch protecting the atoms. not like a classical fluid for which the equilibrium speed corresponds to strong physique rotation, a quantum fluid corresponding to a Bose–Einstein condensate can rotate simply throughout the nucleation of quantized vortices. This monograph is devoted to the mathematical modelling of those phenomena. The mathematical instruments hired are power estimates, Gamma convergence, and homogenization thoughts. The mathematical research is made within the framework of the Gross–Pitaevskii strength. effects are provided and open difficulties concerning contemporary experiments are defined. The paintings can function a reference for mathematical researchers and theoretical physicists attracted to superfluidity and quantum condensates, and will additionally supplement a graduate seminar in elliptic PDEs or modelling of actual experiments.

By Henrik Bruus

Microfluidics is a tender and quickly increasing medical self-discipline, which bargains with fluids and recommendations in miniaturized platforms, the so-called lab-on-a-chip structures. It has purposes in chemical engineering, pharmaceutics, biotechnology and drugs. because the lab-on-a-chip structures develop in complexity, a formal theoretical realizing turns into more and more important.
The easy inspiration of the publication is to supply a self-contained formula of the theoretical framework of microfluidics, and while provide actual motivation and instance from lab-on-a-chip know-how. After 3 chapters introducing microfluidics, the governing questions for mass, momentum and effort, and a few easy movement ideas, the subsequent 14 chapters deal with hydraulic resistance/compliance, diffusion/dispersion, time-dependent movement, capillarity, electro-and magneto-hydydrodynamics, thermal shipping, two-phase circulation, complicated move styles and acousto-fluidics, in addition to the recent fields of opto-and nano-fluidics. in the course of the booklet basic versions with analytical suggestions are provided to supply the scholar with a radical actual figuring out of order of magnitudes and diverse chosen micorfluidic phenomena and devices.
The booklet grew out of a collection of well-tested lecture notes. it really is with its many pedagogical workouts designed as a textbook for a sophisticated undergraduate or first-year graduate direction. it's also like minded for self-study.
